The link carries tracking before signup; the code is an explicit identifier.
Stake says an affiliate link must be clicked before registration to attribute a unique registration. A code entered during the eligible flow can identify a campaign and may override link attribution.
Neither mechanism proves a special player reward by itself. The reward claim needs its own current source and eligibility record.
| Mechanism | When it acts | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Affiliate link | Before registration | Destination, campaign owner and click time |
| Referral code | During the eligible code window | Exact code, product and stated benefit |
| Offer | After eligibility checks | Source, audience, terms and expiry |
What can change attribution?
- Entering a code can override the affiliate link used before registration.
- Only unique registrations are processed; Stake says same-IP registrations cannot be processed as separate referrals.
- A code added after the official window is not a reliable recovery method.
- Cookies, devices and ad blockers can affect third-party measurement, but only Stake can confirm account attribution.
Player-first rule
Choose only from a documented player benefit. Do not accept a claim that a link is automatically better, or that a code is automatically exclusive.
A clean pre-registration check
- Confirm that the page and offer are for Stake.com, not Stake.us.
- Read the current official welcome terms and jurisdiction rules.
- Save the exact benefit wording before following a commercial link.
- Check the code shown in the registration flow before creating the account.
